Roanne’s Race is a dream come to actuality in honor of Roanne Cairel. Before losing her battle with colon cancer at the age of 24, her friends and family told her they wanted to do something for her in her name, to honor her. She expressed that she wanted a 5k for colon cancer research, and they took that idea and “ran with it”.
Roanne’s Race is a 5K/10k run/walk event that will take place every year on the first Saturday of November, rain or shine. For our 4th annual race we will also be adding a Team registration option for groups of 4 or more! This year Roanne’s Race will take place on November 5, 2016. Please REGISTER HERE!
All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to support the research of colon cancer, specifically among young people. Over our first three years we’ve been able to donate $25,000 to the Colon Cancer Alliance’s newly founded Never Too Young program, which researches, educates and supports young adults with colon cancer under the age of 50, all while putting on a race.
This year we will be repeating our support of Colon Cancer Alliance and its under 50 awareness initiative, Never Too Young, and also exploring California based oncology research centers and scientists interested in researching colon cancer causes in young people.
