The 8th Annual Roanne’s Race is now a virtual event on March 27, 2021.
Roanne’s Race Mission is to raise awareness of colorectal cancer as it occurs in people under age 50, and those of all ages, through an annual 5K/10K and kids run. Roanne’s Race is inspired by the life of Roanne Cairel.

Roanne’s Race response to COVID-19
The health, safety, and peace of mind of our participants is a top priority at Roanne’s Race. As such, the Roanne’s Race organizers have decided to further postpone the 8th Annual Roanne’s Race by moving it to a virtual event on March 27, 2021. While we are thrilled to be back on colorectal cancer awareness month, we are disappointed that we cannot all support this cause together on race day as we’ve done since 2012. That day will come back, and when it does we will be ready!
Event details and schedule
What should Participants expect with a virtual race?
Participants can enjoy their 5K, 10K or Fun Run at their leisure! Choose your own route, upload your own results, and post your own photos from March 20 – March 31, 2021 using the IYR App. Participants will receive a completion certificate after the March 31st deadline.
All participants will receive a “packet” which includes a sweat-wicking cotton-like shirt, a race bib, and other Roanne’s Race goodies from our sponsors.
There are two options for packet pick-up:
- Have your packet mailed to you! For an extra $5 with your registration fee we will mail your packet to you, no matter where you are in the country. Packets will be mailed out after March 27, 2021.
- Pick up your packet at Fleet Feet Sports in Pleasanton, CA! If you are local, and want to save that extra $5, come by in person and pick up your packet with us. Exact date of pick up TBD, and COVID protocols will be in place.

Here’s a quick FAQ to answer some common questions.
Q: Will my November 7, 2020 registration allow me entry into March 27th event?
A: All current registrations, to date, will be honored for the March 27th event.
Q: What if I choose not to participate in the virtual event, but registered for the 2020 event?
A: If you choose not to participate in the March 27, 2021 virtual event, we hope that you would consider your unused registration as a donation to our mission. We are a completely non-profit and volunteer-run event, and we would be so thankful for your generosity. All proceeds after race costs are donated to colorectal cancer research and awareness initiatives with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. Every race registration is considered a donation, and we are determined to make a difference in ending colorectal cancer. If don’t wish to use your registration as a donation, let us know.
Thank you for understanding as we all adjust to this new format. Further details will become available soon. Continue to get some fresh air, wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay healthy–at the end of the day, that’s what’s most important to us. We’ll “see” you in March!
