Roanne’s Race is a dream come to actuality in honor of Roanne Cairel. Before loosing her battle with colon cancer at the age of 24, her friends and family told her they wanted to do something for her in her name, to honor her. She expressed that she wanted a 5k for colon cancer research, and they took that idea and “ran with it”.
This is a 5K/10k run/walk event that will take place every year on the first Saturday of November, rain or shine. For our 2nd annual race we will also be adding a Kid’s Fun Run for those 10 and under. This year is our 2nd Annual Roanne’s Race will take place on November 2, 2013. Please visit our “5k/10k/Fun Run Registration” section for more information on registration!
All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to support the research of colon cancer, specifically among young people. Last year for our inaugural race we supported Colon Cancer Alliance’s Diagnosed Under-50 Research Initiative and donated $8,500 to their research. This year we will be repeating our support of Colon Cancer Alliance and their research. If you are an organization or person affiliated with a colon cancer fundraising effort and would also like to support this race please let us know.
